In the beginning…
Prayer is simply communing with the Almighty Creator.
We are so often distracted in this chaotic world we lose sight of the connection God has established with us. When all we think, say, and do should be offered back to Him, the easiest way to connect to our Loving God is to sincerely PRAY.
Intercessory prayer is certainly one of the most common ways to pray. We all come to God and with hope, ask Him to do something for us. Fortunately, every one of us is a recipient of His great mercy. When our prayers are answered it is only proper to graciously give Him Prayers of Thanksgiving!

The Waiting Game
It can be a challenging time as we wait for an answer to our prayers. It is helpful if we are aware of the gift of GRACE we are given in every moment. This heavenly support can help us see more facets of our current situation. Perhaps God deliberately delays His response so to act more effectively later. Is He helping us to strengthen our virtues of patience or perseverance?
As we prayerfully wait, we can trust and know God is listening. We will notice how our request may begin to change. This can also be a time for Prayers of Thanksgiving as we learn to surrender our will to the will of God. Jesus does this perfectly in His agony in the garden of Gethsemane. Luke 22:42

Fight for what is Right!
Not getting what we want is no time for despair…rather, it is a time to stir up our faith! We believe the Lord will grant us our requests when we walk firm in His ways. (Ps37) When confronted with lawlessness or corruption, remember, Christ is our King! With Him and His Kingdom we will fight for what is right and just! We will take a stand in good faith, knowing our Savior gave Himself to deliver us from such evil. Keep in mind, God is the ultimate judge.
“You can’t always get what you want… but you get what you need.”
The Rolling Stones musically coined this popular phrase. With Spiritual eyes and ears, if we try sometimes, we just might find… we get everything we need with the Grace of God! He continually strengthens us as He opens new paths in our walk with Him. Can we soften our hearts in acceptance of the reality we are to experience? Is our faith weakened with fear of the unknown?
Like in any friendship, the more time we spend with Jesus the more we will know Him. In this sacred relationship we can only grow in the peace He came to give us. He is with us in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. He is present to us even when the answer is ‘no’.

Some of God’s greatest gifts are Unanswered Prayers.
Popular singer Garth Brooks heard this phrase and could not ignore the tug in his heart. He was impelled to write a song in thanksgiving for the blessings which came to be in result of Unanswered Prayers. It is a beautiful ballad many can relate to and a wonderful interpretation of God so often having a better plan than we do. We need only to trust Him.
As we pray in petition, may we be persistent as we watch and grow in the Lord. He just may alter His plans as He sees our deep faith and trust in Him. No matter the answer, we will surely be blessed in our attitude of gratitude!

Let every day be Thanksgiving Day!
Until our next walk through the garden…
